The
object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness
of its members. It is the largest lay Apostolic organization in the
Catholic Church and has millions of members worldwide. It was founded
in 1921. Its goal is to form its members in holiness, knowledge of the
faith and techniques of apostleship.
The
Legion operates in a diocese with the permission of the bishop, and
in the parish with the permission of the pastor. The legion group in
a parish is called a praesidium. Our praesidium at Saint Luke's is named
Queenship of Mary.
Active
members meet weekly for prayer and planning under the guidance of a
spiritual director.(Our spiritual director is Father Joe.) Each week
active members do two hours of Apostolic work assigned by the proesidium.
Auxiliary
members support the proesidium by saying the rosary and the prayers
in the tessera each day. They benefit from all the prayers said by Legion
members throughout the world.
Saint
Luke's Legion of Mary meets each Monday at 7 pm in
the parish center. We are actively recruiting both active and auxiliary
members. For further information - join us at one of our meetings or
