The
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a year-round process
of evangelization and catechesis that seeks to help those interested
in joining the Roman Catholic Faith. The Rite includes the preparation
for and the celebration of the sacraments of baptism, confirmation,
and Eucharist.
Catechists
provide instruction to RCIA candidates. Approximately 4-6 hours per
month is required in combined preparation and meeting time.
RCIA
sponsors are adults who serve as mentors to the RCIA candidate. Sponsors
must agree to walk with their candidate for at least one full year,
attending weekly sessions with the candidate. Approximately 2-3 hours
per week is required in combined preparation and meeting time.
